The Organisors

Matt and Jim are the two culprits, and as you can see they really do not know how to park a vehicle correctly

How did it all start?

In 2009 Jim and Matt with two friends took part in the Mac 4x4 challenge to raise money for Macmillan cancer.  Matt and Graham were in the Pajero and Jim and Craig were in the little Suzuki.  With excitement and a little trepidation we set off for the start point which was the Britpart Factory in Shropshire.

The event was incredible, the scenery was awesome and the shear thrill of taking whatever mad idea for map reading the organisers threw at us, we could decipher and concur

Fantastic Scenery

Unfortunately when we got to Lockerbie Gremlins got into the Pajero starting with the electrics and finishing with the water pump packing up.  So it was all down to the little Suzuki to finish the challenge which thankfully it did.

After the event Matt and Jim then told their local off road club, NorfolkRhinos to which the response was "We wish something like this was more local." The idea was then born, Jim and Matt went off and designed a 500 mile event just for the club and to raise money for a local charity (EACH).

The 2009 EACH 4x4 Challenge

The event started on a Friday night in Norwich, with camping in Reedham.

On the Saturday, the trucks weaved their way through Norfolk and Suffolk with the second nights camping at Shepherds Port, near Sandringham

On the Sunday the fourth stage finished on Skegness beach for a well deserved ice cream  The final stage was back to Norwich for the awards and presentation dinner.  Just 11 cars entered and just over £7,000 was pledged in sponsorhip.

2010 Treasure Hunt

In October we ran a treasure hunt to promote the 2011 event.  Just from a raffle and an auction we managed to raise £718 for Alzheimer’s, Nelsons Journey and Leeway which was an astonishing amount.  A huge thanks to all our sponsors because without them we could have not raised the money we did and made the event as successful as it was.
